Tree vs. Progressive line-by-line find

InSight's (http://www.dataomega.com)progressive find has received little comment here. I wonder if anyone has much tried this kind of find as a complete substitute for a tree.
Most pims do not find line by line, but rather give you a list of topics containing the target string. One exception is Microsoft OneNote, which provides a line-by-line list must like InSight in that it shows the context of each find (albeit without InSight's line numbering. But there's a difference. InSight produces its list of found occurrences instantaneously. OneNote is reasonably fast, but it takes maybe 5 to 10 seconds to complete a search. Other differences that are probably more important is that the InSight search starts when you type the first letters and can be progressively narrowed by additional superimposed searches.
