SD: “Perhaps to rationalize my CRIMP, I am thinking increasingly in terms of specificity, of pims for specific purposes rather than for instantiating my ‘philosophical’ positions.”
You raise an interesting point, Stephen. If there was such a thing as the holy grail of outliners, would it be any good anyway?
Good carpenters and plumbers have a toolbox full of tools specifically adapted to the job at hand, rather than all-in-one tools which are inevitably compromised by their design.
The benefits of specific-purpose tools (& apps) are quality workmanship and increased productivity.
The disadvantages, inter alia, are high cost, substantial research and training time and waste.
Decisions, decisions!
