This entire concept seems better suited for group thinking exercises, where ideas are generated rapidly by different people, but one person has to collect them and then help the group make sense of them afterward. Which would argue that the software version is probably not all that effective, since it would require a projector and restricts the facilitator to sitting at a keyboard instead of standing in front of the group. I suppose you could have the keyboarder and a separate moderator, but that tends to be clunky from my experience, since the facilitator has to both direct the group and instruct the keyboarder. And for the lone geek (like me) sitting at a computer in his office, Brainstorm or a mind mapper seems a much more effective choice.
Then again, I’m basing this opinion on about 15 minutes worth of trialing of Visual Concept.
