Steve,
I’ve gone back to using Grandview, having tried Inspiration (which I bought mainly to help the exporting of GV files to MS-Word), and NoteMap.
Inspiration I found interesting but clunky - especially the display. It was also particularly slow on a WIN98 notebook I had at the time.
NoteMap is somewhat more elegant, but far too expensive for most users, and lacks features available in GV (and Inspiration). Also, it still has important bugs that need addressing. The worst one involves the “Comments” feature. Comments (i.e. annotations) can be added to individual note items. The problem is that if two notes are merged, the comments attached to one of them (the “mergee”) get deleted. AFAIK, this has not been fixed yet.
Grandview works fine in XP, although a proper full-screen display with decent fonts is not possible on my current Thinkpad notebook. But I can’t imagine moving to a Windows outlining program until their designers get their acts together.
What are you using as a substitute for Grandview these days?
Derek
