I think that this is true as far as the Windows side is concerned. There are a lot of really useful tools developed over here that I often find out about from “foreign” websites. There is almost no mention of tools such as Idea! in German computer magazines (I read about A-Plan one or two years ago).
On the Mac side, it is a bit different: You read a lot in German Mac magazines about software developed here (Devonthink, Ulysses, a great project-planning tool called Merlin, etc.).
