I’ve actually expressed a similar opinion in the past:

“In fact, for certain things, there’s still nothing like a good ol’ paper diary, rolodex and scribbling pad.”
Whereas Stephen D. takes another approach:

“It is rare for me to touch pen and paper and have something legible come out of it. For me making marks on paper is too effortful a process, whereas I can type accurately at high speed.”
For me it’s a question of framework; in terms of notetaking in conferences, meetings etc, I find pen and paper irreplaceable. Same for a quick plan of things to do throughout the day as they come up. I have an A5 pad with me wherever I go and a lot of straighforward creative work takes place with that as the only “tool”.
However, I am more and more required to plan in the long term and to take various things, including others’ priorities, into consideration. In such situations, it’s a case of information “overview, access and re-use” and that’s where IT tools do have the edge.
