I took a look at ISTD Organizer, which is a neat program, indeed.
Actually what it reminds me of most is a simplified, more user-friendly Windows version of President’s Planner, the macro-driven PIM that was sold for a long time as an add-on to Lotus Agenda. There was also a lawyer’s version called Partner’s Planner.
Both were designed by Alex Todd, and latterly were available as free downloads. They can still be found on:

I am a longtime user of Lotus Agenda, and used the President’s Planner add-on to organize a complicated permanent move from the UK to the US. I’ve been using it ever since for PIM purposes. It’s a DOS program, but will run in a window in XP. One major advantage of PP over the bare-bones Lotus Agenda is that PP can be used almost immediately, without Agenda’s learning curve, but exploiting the latter’s power.
I hasten to add that I’m not recommending PP to new users - more as an example of “best of breed”, like the Grandview outliner. Similar functionality in Windows can probably be found in the Zoot-MS Outlook combo, and ISTD Organizer has a useful subset of PP’s features.
