It’s not unique to ISTD, but it isn’t common either. ISTD is the only program I’m aware of that implements this functionality and nothing but, at a very reasonable price.

The other scheduling/to do mgmt products with hierarchical categories are: Agenda At Once, Life Balance, and MyLifeOrganized. The latter two are fairly elaborate programs. The first links the outline to a calendar instead of a to list. ISTD is essentially Life Balance without all the balancing.
