I am also experimenting with Brainstorm as a project/task planner. The advantage is that tasks can be linked (via Namesakes/clones) to the relevant information or project. The disadvantage is the lack of reminders or any way of easy sync of dates to external applications.
Brainstorm has just updated its free diary generator, following input from users, including myself. This can produce a database with all dates of practically any year one might require. If you use that as your task manager, or merge it into your main database, you can then check the current date for planned tasks.
It works with the Magic Paste automatic date setting, or with the Insert Date function, as long as you’ve set the diary generator to the same format as your system’s short date.
