I can make a preliminary comparison, though I have not used InfoRecall very extensively.
The three areas in which InfoRecall excels versus UltraRecall:
1. More powerful editor with tables, hyperlinks and more.
2. More nimbly handles multiple databases, including powerful cross-database searching.
3. Cleaner user interface.
Where UltraRecall excels versus InfoRecall:
1. Metadata management—IR doesn’t provide any, UR provides extensive.
2. Capturing information from other sources, especially hauling in and indexing full web pages.
3. Though the younger program by many years, UR reflects more professional development, and makes one feel a lot more confident about trusting one’s information to its coding.
One area in which the two programs both excel is in indexing the contents of the data and searching for it. I happen to prefer the way IR applies searches and presents the results. It just seems cleaner.
If I had confidence in IR, I would definitely prefer it because of its cleaner interface, and cross-database searching. Unfortunately, it doesn’t instil cofnidence as it is.
