I have used More since it first came out.
I have over 1/2 Gig of files of business and personal notes.
I am still in the mac os world, but am having the need to move to windows xp, or at least be able to go cross platform.

I would like to convert the files to an outline program that would work on windows xp or mac osx.
At home I use the mac. On the road I have a windows xp laptop using verizon broad bank wireless. It would be nice to use the files either place and sync them.

The main features I like in More is the ability to add a text box, and collapse it.
Also like the ability to hit return on a heading and have it create a new heading on the same level.
Word outline capabilities don't allow you to do any of that - you can create a text box, but not collapse it
hitting return works different than more

of course putting all my files on a server and using an outliner online would be awesome as well, is that what opml does?

You are about to discover that Windows XP no more has the equivalent of More 3.1 than does Mac OS X. Just as the Mac's most powerful outliner, More, was stranded with the new operating system, so "IBM compatibles," as they used to be called, was left with no counterpart to GrandView with demise of DOS.

The gap in functionality between More and anything currently on Windows is so great that it simply doesn't make sense to do what you want -- to find another program that mimics certain More features. First of all, there simply isn't a program with both of the features you want. Secondly, when you see the offerings, I doubt you will be that concerned about these two features, given what else is lacking. Put simply, there just aren't nearly as many choices as I think you assume.

Your choices, besides Word's outliner, boil down to Inspiration (which is a cross-platform program) and NoteMap (www.casesoft.com). Sorry to be the bearer of he bad news.
