Standardisation (as in .NET) is a catalyst for productivity; not (necessarily) creativity. However, facilitation of software creation through more powerful tools could lead the Stephen Diamonds of these world, i.e. power users with analytical skills who also see the bigger picture, to create their own ideally envisaged applications—as long as the tools themselves do not impose specific structures.
