Graham -
Thanks for the tip-off about Net Snippets. It seems to be just what I need. The trouble with other similar programs - ContentSaver; Surfsaver - is that they save to proprietory databases. Although Contentsaver is a great program, one is at the mercy of whatever search facilities such programs have. Surfsaver saves into an Asksam database - so, same problem (unless one is an Asksam user). Exporting information from such programs also tends to be a chore - though easier in ContentSaver than SurfSaver.
The great advantage of Net Snippets is - as others have said - that it saves web pages as htm files, and into standard Windows folders as set up via the Net Snippets interface. This means that the folders can be indexed and searched directly with any decent search program (e.g., Wilbur; dtSearch; X1, etc). This is a really important feature. It also means that the snippets can easily be linked to items in Zoot databases.
How are you using Net Snippets and Zoot together?
