Just to answer my own query…
> There may also be a route via Brainstorm.
Grandview can export its outlines in a tab indented format, and Brainstorm can import such structured files via its “Open” menu. This means that Brainstorm ought in theory to be able to handle GV output with no problems. Unfortunately my Brainstorm evaluation ran out some months ago, so I can’t check this empirically.
Incidentally, Brainstorm outlines can be imported very nicely into GrandView, using Brainstorm’s text file output, which is tab indented.
This suggests two possible roles for Brainstorm:
1. as a preliminary brainstorming stage before moving to a heavyweight outliner like GrandView - although (a) many people would probably find find this intermediate stage unnecessary; or (b) prefer to use another windows outliner (e.g., why not straight from Brainstorm into Word?);
2. GrandView users could use Brainstorm instead of Inspiration or NoteMap for getting theit GV outlines into Word’s outliner.
As you can see, I am trying to talk myself into buying Brainstorm…
