MindManager seems to get the best reviews, and MindGenius is its only competitor when it comes to getting reviewed. MindManager is very feature-laden (or bloated, haven’t yet decided on the best characterization).
MindManager seems to have established a strong presence in the Fortune 500 corporate world, where it is used as a collaboration tool. It has created its own market for add-ons—I don’t see such things available for any other program.
It almost seems like the choice for MindManager is akin to the choice of MS Word for word processing—that is, one is unlikely to love the program as a whole, but its feature set far exceeds the competition. Except, the gap is not really as large, and a lot of people _do_ seem to love the program.
Those are the arguments for MindManager in my case, but I still prefer Visual Mind. Haven’t tried VisiMap. I wonder whether for my purposes a somewhat ugly program might not be preferable. One thing that makes me hesitate about even jumping into mind mapping for kicks is that it seems it tends to divert too much attention to choosing shapes and other decisions which don’t necessarily help integrate the information or concepts.I think for me something that mainly just drew lines might be preferable.
Or I could stick with Inspiration, which I have after all already bought. In fact, it would be the obvious choice, because its the only program with a logic I can really tolerate. If only it didn’t make you mess are with connectors to reorganize a diagram. . .
