Of the two programs, the one more likely to develop meta-data columns is NoteMap… which doesn’t mean it will definitely happen. I remember a few years ago, when NM1 was issued, a representative of CaseSoft posted to this forum, and I think one of the things he promised is that they were working on that… maybe someone who is more adept at searching the archives of this forum might be able to come up with that note. His name was Greg Ketrel or something along those lines.

Clearly, the potential market for Inspiration is much larger (all the schools in North America) than for NoteMap, so the pool of existing users must be larger too, which is probably why NoteMap’s upgrade price is higher. In my opinion, NM2 is worth the upgrade price, but the issue of price and value is a personal one.
However, I am very glad for this discussion, because it has pushed me to look at Inspiration again, and I have to admit that it is a stronger outliner than I had previously given it credit for. I am still not impressed with the diagramming… which isn’t to say the diagramming isn’t functional. It is just that I find it takes a lot of effort to get my diagrams to look right, but my tolerance is probably a lot lower than others.
