Answering my own question, I downloaded and tried InfoRapid; apart for finding the importing process rather non-intuitive, it seems to work and do what it’s supposed to.
I experienced no stability problems, but then again, I didn’t try it much. What I did experience though is slowdown. This of course should be expected when just switching from one page to the other means accessing different applications through OLE.
So, personally, I am not convinced that the “ideal” of having applications within applications is so ideal after all. However, for specific situations, i.e. using features not supported by RTF, keeping a complete project folder with all related documents etc, it could prove very useful.
