I think the equivalent of ENTER in Inspiration is F9. Tab has the same effect in the two programs.
NoteMap has configurable keystrokes, and Inspiration doesn’t.But then Inspiration does not suffer from the imo two major failing of NoteMap,lack of notes text and limitation to nine levels of outlining.
But the latter limitation may be a necessary companion to one of NoteMap’s greatest strengths: when exported to word, the outlining levels map to Word’s heading styles.
Inspiration may illustrate an interesting but perhaps irrational tendency among users of computer programs. Weakness in a major feature extraneous to the users needs seem to deter users—or at least me—from adopting a program. I wouldn’t use the diagramming feature, but my dissatisfaction with the way it is implemented probably keeps me from using the Inspiration for outlining. The unwanted feature somehow subjectively taints the program.
