This suggests a possible feature for any outliner developers out there: auto parsing, which might work like this:
1. Import your text into a note.
2. Select the parts of this note you’d like to become individual items.
3. Press the auto-parsing button (or whatever you want to call it), and each paragraph then becomes its own item, each of which will be subordinate to the original note, which remains intact, so you don’t lose the original context for each of the new subordinate notes.
Would that fill the bill for you, Chris? Seems like a relatively easy operation to implement, actually. I know you can do this with drag and drop in Zoot and UltraRecall, maybe with some others, though it appears limited to one item at a time.
