[To aid in organizing masses of clips, Clipmate uses an explorer mode that shows multiple panes to help place clips in various collections that can be subdivided at will.]
In fact in this mode ClipMate is a data organiser much more than a clipboard enhancer. The clipboard just happens to be a convenient “input pathway”. Considering that (a) a number of information managers have got some kind of “autopaste” function to get data from the clipboard and that (b) many clipboard enhancers have got “rules” to automatically move clips to specific folders, it appears that the line between the two kinds of applications is becoming rather thin.
[The analogous solution for outliners and pims would be separate database and outlining modes. Remarkably, I cannot think of a single pim/outliner that has tried that approach]
The only thing that springs to mind is MindGenius’s “brainstorming mode”, where one can very quickly produce a basic mind map of ideas. For editing / linking / notes etc one then has to go back to the normal interface.
