Yes, when comparing with Zoot, I can see the applications. I guess if I think of “keywords” as “classifications” that helps me see the usefulness more. I like that I can classify things with Zoot in many different ways, one of which is automatically classifying based on delimiters or text within the content.
One thing I want to do is minimize the time I spend manually classifying data and only classify things when I’m sure that the classification will be used in some way. Zoot is obviously helpful in minimizing manual classification time, although the flip side is that time is spent creating the classification rules in the first place.
I’ve also thought that some kind of Bayesian filters for information management would be useful. POPFile does a great job at classifying email into any number of arbitrary categories; it seems someone would think to apply the same algorithms to general information management.
