Jumping in on this keyword issue…
I am more in Chris’s boat, in that I find it cumbersome to try to consider all the ways I might want to classify any particular piece of information as I am entering it into my database. Continuing the Freud example, what if I find myself writing something about German scientists? I doubt I would not have been prescient enough to think to add “German” and “scientist” to my keyword categorization. The whole idea of putting that burden on myself as I’m entering information sort of paralyzes me.
Which is not to say that having the ability to categorize/classify data on the fly doesn’t have some application for me. I use Zoot to capture correspondence with customers. It is nice to be able to assign each correspondence to a particular issue (shipping, product, service, whatever…).
So, it is important to me that my data managers provide powerful search capability, and categorization when desirable. Zoot and UR allow for this flexibility in data management which I greatly appreciate.
