Daly,
I agree completely with your comments about InfoSelect’s no-trial policy. It is short-sighted and demonstrates the arrogance of the company. You may be right about its days being numbered. It definitely suffers from feature-bloat. All that being said, there are a few positive things I can report about InfoSelect:
1. It has incredibly quick searches.
2. It has been very stable in my experience. No lost data and no system errors or anything like that.
3. Its folders approach allows you to group certain items from different categories and then view just those items… it is kind of a cross between keywording and hoisting, perhaps.
4. Its integrated calendar may be the most useful of any information manager… although I haven’t gotten the tickler to work right in version 8.
5. It allows you to build a column grid in the selector (tree), which can be a useful way to view data.
All this being said, I don’t want this to seem like an endorsement. I think some people will find IS very useful and others will run screaming from it. If it cost $50 to buy, instead of $50 a year to subscribe, I’d say it was worth it.
Steve Z.
