Who else has an automated cloning system? Not ADM. It is UR’s best feature, a feature any hierarchical information manager should have. Any information represented by hyperlinks can also be represented with clones, although in some instances it will be slightly less efficient. The reverse isn’t true; hyperlinks cannot represent many features that are inherent in clones, for example, the distinctions represented by parent child vs child-parent vs. siblings.
UR’s developers face a choice point on this. Do they want to go the direction ADM seems to be traveling of multiplying features incoherently or will they stick with some _theory_ of data management that they make explicit.
Actually, despite its limitations in text and window management, Idea! still appeals to me, now that I found how to import rtf flawlessly. It is the only program of its kind being developed by knowledge managament experts.
