I think the benefit of wiki-style hyperlinks comes from the ability to instantly link to related information as you write - no need to find items you want to clone/link to. And, in fact, you can link to information that doesn’t even exist yet but may at some point in the future.
For example, I can be writing about [Stephen R. Diamond] and link to his contact record without interrupting the flow of my writing.
Hyperlinks alone may be too organic for those needing more structure. Personally, I think the combination of UR’s existing node/item-level links with the expanded ability of token/word-level links would be pretty exciting. I like the flexible structure of UR’s current approach but wouldn’t mind also being able to easily write node-level interfaces to my data. Each hyperlinked node then becomes a focused interface to a subset of the entire data. Think of it as a more granular approach where the fineness of control is enhanced from the data item level down to the English (or your language of choice) word level.
