... I'm not sure what redux means, but it sounds good.

Since Stephen Diamond has spoken fairly highly of UR, I decided to put it to a more thorough test and have begun to become quite fond of it. I'm seriously considering buying it to replace InfoSelect as my RTF PIM. I'm just wondering if anyone has discovered an serious short-comings they'd like to make me aware of. So far, the only one I can see is that UR doesn't allow you to open multiple databases... you have to open multiple instances of the program. Not a small problem in my opinion, but since IS doesn't allow for multiple databases (actually it does, but puts them all in the same outline, so it negates some of the advantages of multiple databases), this isn't a major concern.

My negative is that there is no way to sync the data with a portable device. A palm in my case. I agree that a replacement for IS needs to be found. My 1 year subscription is about to run out and I think I have hit the end of the line with IS.

There's one thing absent in UR that I don't really miss, but I'm surprised that there haven't been any requests, what with all the things Wiki floating around: hyperlinks to specific textual elements within a note.

You link exclusively by "logical linking" (unrestricted cloning). Linkage is between notes. I think the streamlining is better than a confusing and unintegrated array of hyperlink options, but others may differ, and since no one has raised the issue in the Kinook forum, I don't even know whether the absence is principled or just a v. 1 limitation.
