OO Pro 3.0 is now live from the OmniGroup. I bought my academic upgrade from v2.0 for $40, full list price is $70. (For that price I'd look for a boxed version with the printed manual.)
OOPro 3.0 is, as near as I can tell, a serious effort to match MORE 3.1 as an outliner and writing environment. The style model is designed for long, serious, structured documents. Like MORE it's an outliner, but it's also a writing tool.
It also has GrandView like datagrid/database options, so it's a bit beyond MORE in that regard. (GrandView was a DOS based thinking tool, like MORE also from Symantec.)
There's a free demo version that works quite well. I've just started into my work with it. The recording widget may actually be useful. You can embed files or just link them in. It's a Cocoa app with services and AppleScript support.
It imports MORE 3.1 outlines, seems to handle them very well.
This is the closest thing to MORE 3.1 the outliner that I've come across in the past decade.

Do you know whichif any of More's features, if any, it lacks?

I just checked out the OmniOutliner web site... Wow. That's what I call an outliner. Why can't they build something like this for Windows? The very next thing I did was check out the Apple web site to see how much an iBook would cost...
