Now that I grasp what you were refering to, I can say that I use this kind of hierarchical classification all the time in Zoot. So, for instance, if I have a vendor from whom I buy three different products, I can set up a system of folders that list purchases from this vendor by product. Most often, however, I wouldn’t set this up in advance, but just create a folder to draw these items into it when I need that specific data… it is really just a form of querry, one that can be saved or transitory. This flexibility is one of Zoot’s great strengths.
To get a bit more specific: I have a database set up for transactions. The main transaction view allows me to assign an item to a vendor folder, a product folder, and a type folder (type being order, invoice or price quote) as well as a few other details. When I create a transaction, say getting a price quote from a vendor, I log it in (if they’ve responded with an e-mail, I just Zoot in into the database), then assign it to the appropriate vendor, product and type folders (I could set up rules to automate this, but I prefer to do it manually, and since it takes just a second to select from my pop-up lists, it probably is just as fast if not faster to make manual selections). Since I can set up rules for a new folder to use AND, OR operators, I can view this information in any way I please, really.
I probably just told you something you already knew, but if not, does this answer the recursive rules question?
