I can’t speak for Steve but I was trying to make the point that they have different practical PURPOSES - one creative, the other about information management. I agree with you that their evaluation can be done using the same basic criteria - because in both cases the high-level purpose of the outlining methodology is to provide us with an overview of the data we are creating/managing.
This discussion, while a bit intellectual, is another example of why many of us feel a need to keep looking for the Holy Grail of outlining - the all-in-one tool that meets both our creative and information management requirements.
Did they ever find that Holy Grail?
