I agree. No matter how many work-arounds I’ve tried, I’ve never found anything as effective in facilitating productive collaboration. I think it’s because collaboration is in itself an unstructured, unstructuring kind of relationship. Open dialog leads to some very strange places, and the outliner, the DYNAMIC outline, is really the only thing you can use to help people stay organized while nurturing the necessary creative chaos.
I would also like to add that I recently had the pleasure of working with Dave Rogers in offering the Navy’s first Technography training. Very interesting—building collaborative environments in a command-centered organization. A very difficult and significant task that Dave has taken on. Too hard to explain. Too important to give up on.
