The need to use option B, cloning, applies to outliners, but it does not apply to InfoHandler.
Using a tree to set up categories is inherantly slower and less ergonomic than using InfoHandler. It may be helpful, however, to see the results of setting up categories and groups and assigning them to data in tree form; InfoHandler easily allows that.
I think that trying to implement keywords using a tree as some programs try to do is an attempt to make the tree fit a new function (or would it be to make a new function fit the tree?). InfoHandler’s system is superior. ADM is an outliner that has chosen not to use the tree for keywords. It uses a keyword list, as IH does but without the sophistication of IH. I maintain that the ability to see the keywords in a tree view *after* selecting them is more helpful than having to use a tree to set up your keywords; the issue with using a tree is one can get too hung up on where to put the keywords because one tends to think hierarchially when using a tree, and that’s not necessarily the most helpful way to approach keywords. With a system such as IH’s where you are setting up groups and assigning categories in a more intuitive way, I find that you don’t have that hangup.
I’m repeating a question I asked several days back—but has anyone tried Knowledge Workshop? It seems to me it may be similar to Ultra Recall, but perhaps a little more intuitive. It seems to be similar in some ways to OMEA Pro by Jetbrains, which has now been released.
