Stephen, I am surprised you would see TexNotes Pro as being among the premier knowledge organizers, yet not include InfoHandler. Given our previous discussion I can see why you wouldn’t include ADM, though I would respectfully disagree. I think TexNotes Pro may fall into the category of adding new features without a clear vision of who the end user is or how the program may be used.
Re combining different notes: For me it has always been easiest to use drag and drop. When I discovered (the now seemingly defunct) Ariadne over a year ago, I found it perfect because I could have many note windows open at once. The windows floated and could be resized easily—thus I could get an overview of various notes, and a better sense of how they might be drawn from for a sinle note or document. ADM’s developer has noted my request for multiple, floating windows in ADM.
A program that seems set upt to assist writers is WhizFolders, which allows floating, open windows, and which puts a lot of emphasis also on linking topics/notes/documents, web pages/etc.
DoOrganizer also allows for multiple open windows. Unfortunately, in the current version the open windows quickly get lost beneath the main window when the latter is selected. There is not easy way, such as a windows menu, to find/select the open window you want. I wrote to GemX about that, and was told that may be attended to in a future version.
I think for hands-on manipulation of knowledge with a view to creating an article, books, etc. that it is essential to have the ability to have multiple open windows.
Again, I wonder whether you or anyone else has tried Knowledge Workshop (which I think, but am not sure, may be similar to UR)?
