Stephen, if I can characterize the point of your argument about clones vs keywords, I’d do it this way: A program should not, as a matter of principle, offer more than one way to achieve the same result. The absurd extrapolation of such a position is that if a computer has a mouse programs should not have to carry the additional coding weight of providing keyboard commands.
That you can use cloning as a way to achieve the same functionality as a keyword system is not an argument against having both a keyword scheme and cloning in the same program. In fact, it is easier and faster to use ADM’s keyword system than it is to use its cloning feature for that function. Using a cloning system for a keyword scheme should be seen as a work-around for those programs whose developers do not have the sagacity to provide the feature in the first place.
Incidentally, if I clone it is not b/c I am wanting to perform a keyword function.
Your characterization of yourself as having an orientation to knowledge management and me to professional management may reflect a different emphasis on our parts—but that need not be the case. UR’s, and other programs’, templates are simply one way of packaging and defining information.
