Your question about templates concerns a feature I have completely ignored up to now, which highlights our different emphases, which I would characterize as knowledge organizing versus professional. (Making me continue to wonder why you aren’t a Zoot! user.) I think the way you would get a list of items based on the task template is to do the corresponding search. In the upper left click simple search, then click complex, and choose as a search term from a drop down menu template name includes tasks, or whatever is appropriate to your question and naming scheme.
Here’s where I previously discussed the functional equivalence of hierarchical keywords and outlining with cloning:

The point is simple but somehow elusive. You can get anything from an outline with cloning as from hierachical keywords and vice versa, because they have exactly the same structure. The only thing that’s different typically is the grammar of the denoting terms. But there’s nothing to stop you from having alternate grammars within one data structure, some hierarchies named the way you name key words and others the way you name topics for outlines, if that seems more intuitive. But any system that keeps you from using all of the functionality of one in the other is self-defeating.
UR has as much outlining as it needs, and the developer should resist any temptation to impose another outline structure, separate from the outlines of keywords.I don’t think the outlining is as facile as in UR and MyInfo, but I haven’t played with it for a while.
