Apparently MyInfo 3 will not have any "to do" or appointment calendar capabilities. Milenix, like Kingstairs with its Jot+ have taken the position that such abilities are not really part of information management, but belong in a separate program.
They are totally WRONG! For example, back when I spent more time with GV than with my wife, the GAO asked me for a listing of all of the meetings, with dates, that I had with a particular division. Using GV's category-assignment-calendar capabilities, I was able to create the list in less than a minute and I was also able to access other, relevant material quickly, all within GV.
Calendar appointments, etc. are VITAL INFORMATION that MUST be part of any program that fancies itself to be a PIM.
This note will be sent to both Milenix and Kingstairs. If you agree with me, please also email these vendors about this requirement.

I agree that a product, which is marketed as PIM (as MyInfo 2.6 indeed is), should offer full range of information organizing capabilities, including todo lists and calendar.
However, with MyInfo 3, we are changing the course of our product from free-form PIM to general-reference information manager. I believe that at this time, we will benefit people more by offering a tool for narrower audience, but offering greater value, than offering universal tool with limited features and benefits.
I regularly read the discussions on this site and find very interesting and valuable information about the outlining and information management and still believe that the community deserves better organization tools like GrandView and Ecco. At this time, however, we prefer to achieve excellence in a narrower area of the information management, than trying to offer everything-for-anyone solution.

Steve,
I agree with you that the inability to manage dated information severely limits the value of any information management program. I want to be able to manage projects with my IM as well as my data, because the data (in the form of letters, memos, plans, copy, product info, research) often form the basis of a project. Not being able to assign due dates, appointment dates, milestones, etc... in a PIM is a mistake. I don't, frankly, understand the reasoning behind MyInfo's abandoning this kind of meta-data (if, in fact, that's what they've done... I can't really tell from the Preview on their web site). Zoot does an exceptional job incorporating date-related information... it's still the best "tickler" going... and after you check "complete," you've got a record of the time and date you completed the task.
