I know this isn’t a new topic… someone talked about this app some time ago, but I just got an e-mail announcement from the developer saying the beta version was available for download… so I couldn’t resist trying it out. It has some interesting features, like auto-assigning of categories, ability to assign multiple categories to a note, templates, specific note styles for text notes, to do lists, expense lists, shopping lists, maybe others… I’ve only looked at it for about 10 minutes. On the down side, the editor is very weak, so it isn’t a great environment for writing notes. Also, it says you can drag text into a note, so when I tried dragging a Word document into a note, nothing appeared to happen. But when I exited the program and re-started it, there was the note with my full document included. I guess that comes with the beta territory. It minimizes to the system tray, but you can’t drag text onto the icon to automatically create a note, and there doesn’t appear to be a facility to automatically capture clipboarded text to notes… seems like an elementary operation for a note management program. Still, definitely worth checking out at http://www.evernote.com.
