Steve I agree that if you need a dedicated outliner or mind mapping program you’d look past Inspiration. However, IMO it’s a pretty good compromise if you want both. I was surprised at its ease of use and close integration.
You’d only ever want to use MindManager, MindGenius and the like as mapping programs. Their text outlining functionality is primitive or non-existent. Similarly the outliners I’ve seen don’t have a complimentary mapping interface.
I was surprised at just how easy it was to use in either mode. It includes a turbo type function for quick brainstorming data entry.
If your outlining and mapping requirements are modest, I suspect you could do much worse than Inspiration - even though it was developed primarily for the education market.
