Yes I enjoy the discussion too. Sometimes I think I’m addicted. Then a dose of reality hits me like a bucket of cold water. Here’s another dose :-)
The perceptive comment about email and Outlook reminded me about the other reason why some interoperability between apps is essential for me. Many of us work in corporate environments that have standardised on MS Windows & Office. Outlook wouldn’t be my emailer of choice, but I don’t have a choice, I have to use it. Therefore I’m always interested in how PIMs handle Outlook email & attachments. As I’ve commented before, it’s odd how few actually do it well.
It’s the main reason why I’ve moved from Treepad to Idea! The latter offers several Outlook alternatives - and has more in the pipeline. Henk has taken Treepad down an alternative path focusing on webpage generation, which doesn’t interest me.
So I’m always facing a compromise between what I’d like to use and what I have to work with. Apps that talk to each other are essential for my work environment, but probably irrelevant to others.
