Interesting, but frightening at the same time; the list of categories can get very large, with long descriptions. I don’t think it’s a practical alternative to linking / cloning, though it’s a very useful feature in its own right. It’s the main reason I bought Hyperlink and I’d definitely like to have user-defined categories.
Altogether, from what I’ve read so far, it definitely sounds as if OneNote is at the stage Internet Explorer was at version 2.0. Microsoft definitely has the resources to make it the next standard Office application; I hope that when this happens, it will also be genuinely useful.
