Combining these functions in Zoot means combining the storage, data structuring, and outlining functions. That might be putting more demand on a single application than is necessary, because only data structuring and outlining of the three have the reciprocities that impel unification.
The current programs that combine data structuring and outlining under one interface can be counted on one hand. They include a) Microsoft Office OneNote; b) ADM 3; and c) ndxcard. The last may be the most elegant. Its elegance comes from focusing on data structuring and outlining and not worrying about the complex storage contingencies. Focusing on the two functions alone, it can implement a very direct interface. It uses a simple key words, subject system of storage organization. You add data in small cards, construct an outline, and drag the cards to the position in the outline.

I think a lot of people would like to see some sort of combination of features, but the most common suggestion is that Zoot should develop outlining capabilities. Apparently, though, this has to await the development of the 32-bit version.
