I was really just commenting on the advantages of having the ability to do indexed searching (vs the non-indexed searching it has now) within Zoot.
Non-indexing search engines - say, like Agent Ransack - slow up considerably when used on large amounts of information on one’s hard disk, and that’s where indexing comes into its own. The same applies to Zoot’s searching of its own databases; when they get too large the lack of an indexed search facility begins to slow things up - although I must say Zoot does pretty well without indexation of its contents.
As for comparing the relative merits of using indexed search engines vs free-form databases like Zoot for handling large amounts of information on one’s hard disk, that’s a different matter. Zoot does so much more than simply search through one’s information; it allows one to manipulate it. And the more information one has, the more useful that becomes.
