In a hoist you see the hoisted item and all of its descendents, whether they are immediate or not. In focused mode you see only the hoisted items children and not it grand children. Focused mode combines hoisting and collapsing levels. You can focus by hoisting and collapsing, but the mode automates the process so it’s one operation—when you hoist in focused mode, the collapsing takes place automatically.
