I too use Brainstorm and copy/paste the model to Freemind which gives me a Mind Map of the whole model. I used to start the other way around (mindmapping first) but it seems that my brain does not work that way!
For strictly outlining jobs I use Mybase; it’s great for gathering information from the web and hatd disk; it also has good web publishing / presentation features to share information with others.
Last but not least, for project management in particular I use Hyperclip for its ability to find To-Do’s etc regardless of hierarchy.
I have ended up with a mix of programs, taking advantage of each one’s respective strengths; a key point is that I try to avoid redundancy, i.e. overlapping of uses and information stored.
