Hi, all,

On the Zoot discussion group someone mentioned a new PIM called Deviant Organizer. It is produced by GEM-X (www.gemx.com), the same programmers responsible for TexNotes. I've downloaded it this evening and am going to try putting it through its paces. It has a lot of unique features for a PIM, including a mind mapping facility. The notes node seems to incorporate all the same features as TexNotes. Other facilities include:

Daily journal
Yearly planner
Calendar
Contacts
Tasks

Each item of information can, apparently, be linked to any other (haven't tried it yet), so you can link a journal entry with a contact or a task, for instance. Just like TexNotes, the interface is smart looking.

Has anyone else given this software a test yet? Any comments?

Notes isn't exactly like TexNotes. The Nodes node uses an editor that's separate from the note display and doesn't have a tabbed interface for open notes. You can have multiple notes open in separate windows in the editor in the Notes Node of D.O., but not in TexNotes.

The Notes Node of D.O. does not allow multiple selections in the tree, as TexNotes allows.

Neither program gives you the full range of text editing commands: triple click doesn't work or shift click to extend a selection.
