But NoteMap has no outlining functions that ADM lacks. Not a one, unless you’re willing to call a subjective judgment of ease of use a function.
Actually, Word probably has more outlining functions than NoteMap, when you consider that NoteMap cannot suppress formatting, provides no body text functionality, and cannot split a window or open multiple windows to one data structure. Word, on the other hand, lacks hoist and mark and gather, but hoist has little relevance to an outline under levels deep and a good clip manager can simulate mark and gather.

I guess one reason I think it is problematic is that no one has done it. Believe me, I’d love to have the single-documnet outlining functions of NoteMap embedded in the editor of a hierarchical free-form database. ADM is not that, not even close to that.
