Hi all

I sent this same message below directly to Dave a few minutes ago, and then realized I could send it to you all here.

I've been following outliners.com with great interest for a few months. I am an avid seeker of the ultimate personal information management solution. I've trialled probably nearly everything, and own many, from Zoot, to IDEA!, ADM 3.0 (beta), InfoSelect, Mind Manager, VisiMap and so on and so on.

I recently, serenipidously 'stumbled' across a product that was only publicly released a couple of weeks ago - and as far as I'm concerned it is PIM Nirvana - so I wanted to make you guys aware of it - as I've not seen it mentioned on the discussion yet.

It is called KnowledgeWorkshop - you can see it at http://www.lmsweb.com/product.htm

Kind Regards,

Ian

Well, I looked at some of the demos of Professional KnowledgeWorkshop (http://www.lmsweb.com/product.htm It seems to be more concerned with establishing relationships/links among information items - mostly Web pages - than with Getting It OUT. There seems to be a lot of up-front work: Deciding how important an information item or part of of the item is. Establishing links between such info items, including the direction of the links, etc. You can make changes after the fact, but again it seems to be unnecessarily cumbersome and TIME CONSUMING. I think many of us realize now (if we didn't earlier) that our real purpose in using PIMs is not to play with information, but rather to store it, make it easily accessible, and Get It Out in useful forms. Finally, the search function of KW is QUITE rudimentary.
