Steve, I have used both TakeNote! and ndexcards, the latter on a test basis. The latter is good, but just doesn’t turn my crank. I use TakeNote! for information gathering from journals and books that may later become incorporated into my own writing. The genius of TakeNote! is that it has combined the index card metaphor with the outline, and allows, through drag ‘n drop great rearranging of information in the outline. TakeNote! also has keyword and bibliographic capabilities, and I find it handier and cheaper than the better known biblio programs, while having more capability in the notes and writing areas.
For all other information gathering, management, etc. I use ADM 3 in beta and Ariadne.
