*Outlining doesn’t represent the best free-form database organization. I think they’re antithetical. That’s why, I guess, I’ve had little success with products which combine the two approaches (like ADM) and loved passionately focused software including Ready! and GrandView (outliners); Tornado Notes (DOS predecessor to InfoSelect) and MemoryMate (free-form text database program).
One way key words might integrate with outlining is to use keywords before constructing the outline, as a way of grasping the inter-relations which the outline crystallizes. Key words might continue to be useful if the user contemplates reorganizing the outline or developing alternative hierarchies. I think ADM should allow you to capture alternative hierarchies as views that can be switched, a functionality it presently lacks. (No outliner I’m aware of has it.)
