Back when MORE was in development, users cried out for more extensive word processing features, as well as Director-like animation features. Word processors, on the other hand, were adopting more page layout features. The more freeform-styling you try to put in an outliner, the less it’s like an outliner.
I think most of the reason for little pressure to move MORE to Windows was that the customer support for it (and outliners) wasn’t there, even on the Macintosh. There were already multiple word processors with outlining features as well as multiple presentation tools. There weren’t enough customers willing to shell out for an outliner that was pretty good at word processing, but not (by necessity) at page layout, at least not enough to justify the continued investment.
