[ I’m curious about one point. Since MyBase and KeyNote are both hierarchical freeform databases, how do you use both of them. ]
True; the explanation is rather simplistic and non-technical. After a great deal of looking around and downloading-and-testing-trial-versions I found MyBase to be the most flexible for my needs—though still not perfect. In addition, it seemd to be one of the best supported in terms of updates and plug-ins. I’m very happy with it for my authoring work.
I happen to be an external consultant and project manager to a number of organisations. The main one is a state agency where buying software is a very complicated process. In my effort to introduce my collaborators there to outlining tools I chose KeyNote as I found it the best freeware program of its kind.
Obviously, I work on KeyNote myself only for what is going to go in outline form to the said organisation. The rest I do in MyBase and provide only the final form (Word document, website or whatever) to my clients.
